Our New Facility

On February 11, 2009, CAVES moved into a new 13,000 square foot building dedicated exclusively to veterinary care. This facility is located just off Fort Eddy Road.

The new facility accommodates a larger number of surgical suites, exam rooms and procedure rooms. We have also expanded the number of hospitalization and critical care cages as our case load has increased dramatically since our opening.

Environmentally Friendly Facility

When designing and constructing our new facility, CAVES the integration of many sophisticated and environmentally friendly elements was a top priority. Here are just a few of the "green" aspects of our building:

Geothermal heating and cooling -- Geothermal heating and cooling uses the relatively constant temperature of the earth to heat and cool homes and businesses with 40% to 70% less energy than conventional systems. While conventional furnaces and boilers burn a fuel to generate heat, geothermal heat pumps use electricity to simply move heat from the earth into buildings, allowing much higher efficiencies.
Skylights that let in natural daylight.
High levels of insulation in the walls and attic spaces.
Motion sensor light switches for energy conservation in interior rooms.
The use of high efficiency light fixtures throughout the hospital.
